New features in Version
5.1 :
Synchronize Desktop objects with published shortcuts
With this feature the administrator can create shortcuts to published applications,
desktops or documents to the client desktop.
The shortcuts can be created on the desktop or in the start menu.
The client has the option to refuse to create these shortcuts.
Shortcuts are refreshed every time the list of objects is refreshed, this is done
automatically every 1 hour.
Associate File Extensions of Published Application
With this feature the administrator can register specific file extensions with a
particular application on the client.
The administrator has total control over which extensions are registered.
The client has the option to refuse to register these extensions.
Registered extensions are refreshed every time the list of objects is refreshed,
this is done automatically every 1 hour.
If the document is on a local drive the client need to have the drive redirection
to be functional (Windows 2003)
UNC filename can be opened if both the client and server has access to the same
pathname.
Automatic Redundancy
This version includes automated Redundant Installation.
The administrator has to add a redundant Machine in the "Connection" category, "Backup
Machines" tab.
Once the automated installation is complete, if the primary installation machine
fails, the secondary machine will take over.
If for any reason the primary machine cannot be repaired, the secondary machine
can be promoted to primary by .....
In this case the product needs to be reactivated.
Changing User Passwords
The client now has the ability to change the password if he needs to change it before
the first logon or if the password has expired.
Normal password rules must be followed when changing the password.
Universal Printing
This version supports also universal printing. The installation of the 2X Terminal
Server Agent now adds a Virtual Printer.
This printer can be used when running a 2X session to print to any local printer.
The printer driver is not needed to be installed on the terminal server.
The print job is converted into PDF document and transferred to the client.
The client can choose to print this document to the default printer or to view the
document.
The feature requires Adobe PDF Reader or any PDF viewer with printing capabilities
to be installed on the client machine
Native RDP and ICA Connection Rules
With this version administrators can redirect Native RDP or ICA connections to specific
servers depending on which IP on the gateway did the client connect.
Thus with one Load Balancer we can group connections for specific group of servers.
This feature is intended for clients which do not use 2X ApplicationServer Client
but use Microsoft native client.
Disable Proxy GW main port
This feature is useful for administrators who wish that only SSL connections are
allowed to connect to the 2X client gateway.
Please note that the port will still be opened for local connection so that refreshing
of information can be done.
Auto Start Launcher when running a session or when logging
to windows
When a session is started and the launcher is not running, the 2X Application Server
Client is now automatically deployed. An option to automatically deploy the 2X Application
Server Client when you log on to window is also available. The 2X Application Server
Client now allows the user to disconnect or logoff from any session running.
Screen Server are disabled for published applications
even if enabled through GPO
If screen savers are enabled through GO the screen saver cannot be switched off.
We now use different technique to overcome this problem.
More Information
From the Launcher we can now identify which version of the Active X component we
are using. Some problems clients experience are because they have the wrong version
of MS component installed. Now we can easily identify which version they are using.
Improved Client
New client handles "Application Groups" with the same name. The UI now handles groups
(displayed in the folder view) with the same name.
Accepting Full Qualified names for Domain
This new version now accepts Full Qualified names for domains both on the server
side (Authentication tab) and from the client (user settings).
The system now converts the full qualified name to Netbios. Although supported we
suggest to use Netbios names for speed considerations.
New Licensing Model
This new version utilize a new licensing model.
The client after buying the product will get a license key with which he needs to
activate the product.
Every time the client adds new features to the product, he needs to reactivate the
product.
Clients using old licensing will be prompted to contact the support in order to
get their new licensing key.
